About the Project:

Background: The former bridge had a 4 – 6.25-meter span (overall span of 25m), 4.5m width with a narrow dilapidated timber deck with damaged parapets on structural steel universal beams supported on reinforced concrete abutments and reinforced concrete stepped piers.

Uganda National Roads Authority procured Dynaco Limited as the main contractor to replace the bridge with one that could meet the development and access demands.

Dynaco sourced the consultancy services of Centre for Infrastructure Consulting (CIC) Limited to undertake the design and construction supervision of Kochi Bridge. The proposed bridge was a steel, five-girder composite with a total length of 40m consisting of two spans (20m and 20m) bridge designed for a 120 year working life.
